Mutex coordinates collaborative AI development for shared repositories. It queues requests,, executes and runs one coding task per project on the requester’s computer while managing refinements,, validation, Git synchronization, diffs, previews, and rollback.
Built with Astra
We used Astra throughout the development of Mutex, from turning our early product concept and rough interface sketches into a coherent architecture to implementing and refining the working MVP. It helped us reason through the most challenging parts of the system, including deterministic multi-user scheduling, local Companion execution, real-time state management, Git synchronization, validation, refinements, rollback, authentication, and deployment. During testing, Astra helped us trace issues across the browser, server, database, desktop application, and users’ local repositories, then translate those findings into focused fixes. This allowed us to iterate much faster while still understanding and reviewing every important technical decision. Astra gave us the momentum to pursue an ambitious product without sacrificing the reliability of its core workflow.
